FRIENDS OF THE LANCASTER CHILDREN'S HOME
TIME LINE OF EVENTS 2024
JANUARY:
Donation drive: 15th. to the 29th. Collected cans of food, paper products, laundry pods, ketchup, mayo, ranch dressing, garbage bags, trash bags, and other miscellaneous products. Checks totaling $250.00
23rd. First membership meeting. Sign up sheet for valentine's day meal, cards and gift bags. Order placed for table runner.
Donation from Faith Presbyterian Church of $250.00.
FEBRUARY:
14th. Delivery of Valentine's Day meal, cards and gift bags
27th. Membership meeting: received and showed our new table runner with logo. Discussed future events.
28th. Cellar dwellers event: at 6:15pm. Set up donation table until 7pm. Collected $630.00 in cash and a $500.00 check donation to the Lancaster Children's Home, for a total of $1130.00.
MARCH:
6th. First board meeting for 2024
26th. Membership meeting: created 24 easter gift bags and discussed easter meal
28th. Delivered easter meal and gift bags to LCH
APRIL:
6th. Bocce ball club hosted the girls for instruction, a game and lunch, with the help of our club.
20th. Bocce ball club hosted the boys here.
20th. Our first bake sale of 2024, during the SCCL spring craft show. $363.00
23rd. Membership meeting. April Joplin, director of community development at LCH, came to speak with our members.
MAY:
10th Delivery to LCH of donated items, clothes and food items.
24th Delivery to LCH of Memorial Day Meal of Chili, corn muffins, fruit, salad and brownies.
24th Delivery of donated items from the Ladies Group of Osceola United Methodist Church. Paper towels, toilet tissue, plastic 13 & 33 gal. garbage bags, plastic storage bags and Tide Pods.
28th Our regular monthly meeting, at the Lake House Catawba room, at 10 am.
JUNE:
4th Annual Picnic at LCH property with a Game Truck and a Pizza Truck. Also supplied some lawn games, cards and brownies and cookies. Attended by both boys and girls, along with all LCH staff members.
7th Fishing Event along with the Sports Fishing Club, at Water's Edge Park. Boys of LCH were giving fishing instruction, one on one, by the men of the fishing club. Lunch was provided under the Pavilion. The fishing club also donated a lot of fishing poles and equipment, to be used at the pond at LCH property.
12th Our club ran a donation drive from June 5th to the 12th of needed items. A list was provided by LCH and delivery was made on June 12. Items delivered totaled 3 pages and a car load of items such as paper plates, spices, sugar, condiments, lotion, sporting items, Tide pods, fishing equipment, wipes, dishwashing liquid, etc…..
17th Spotlight of our Club took place, at the Lake House Lobby, from 12:30 to 3 pm, to promote our club.
18th Our regular monthly meeting, at the Lake House Catawba Room, at 10 am.
JULY AND AUGUST
3rd Meals will be delivered to LCH on July 3rd for the 4th celebration.
12th Table Tennis with the Girls of LCH, with Lunch, from 10am to noon, in the Catawba Room of the Lake House.
19th Table Tennis with the Boys of LCH, with Lunch, from 10 am to noon, in the Lodge BR# 1.
18th Delivered 2 "new" bikes and 1 new helmet to LCH, which will be given to 2 children of the Lancaster Housing Authority. Thanks to a donation by: Helen & Doug Nickel.
22nd to August 2nd. School Clothing donation drive. Requested checks made out directly to the Lancaster Children's Home, to be delivered to April Joplin of LCH for deposit. Funds will be used, by staff of LCH, to take the children shopping for clothes, shoes, backpacks and other school items. Raised $ 1,960.00 (Also delivered clothing items to home)
30th Members of the SCCL Sport Fishing Club delivered hundreds of dollars in fishing poles and equipment to LCH and spent about 3 hours of instruction and fishing with the boys. About 20 fish were caught !!
SEPTEMBER:
JoAnn Aiello delivered a donated storage bin and some boxes of individual bagged chips.
A friend and neighbor of Georgette Presto donated $500.00 directly to LCH and spoke with April about the use of the money. This will be used to give each child a $10.00 gift card for their birthdays.
17th. Delivered donated items by SCCL residents who reached out to our club. One Large Zippered Leather Tote Bag, One large Christmas wreath, and a box of Toiletries for Girls such as toothbrushes, dental floss, small soaps, socks, sanitary pads, tampons, bottles of scented shower gels and packets of Lysol Wipes.
24th Our first membership meeting after the summer break.
OCTOBER:
17th The Sport Fishing Club members went up to LCH to fish, again, with the boys. It is a school holiday day off. (Thursday). Our club also went up to supply drinks, snacks and lunch.
31st Delivered a hot meal along with Halloween gift bags for the children.
NOVEMBER:
Fall donation drive: 3 carloads of items delivered
9TH. Bake sale at the Craft Show: $435.00
26th. Our final meeting for 2024. Packed Holiday gift bags, which were delivered the first week of December.
DECEMBER:
21ST. Holiday Party for the children and Staff of LCH at the Lodge Ballroom #3. A great day of food, music, games, gifts and fun.
A donation file has been created for all the items donated to LCH through our donation drives and donations of items and money from our SCCL neighbors and friends.
A monthly donation of $200.00 per month for a LCH pizza party.
