LLL: What's across the river at York County Museums

Event Date:

Coming Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Lodge

What's waiting across the River at York County Museums
Presented by Windy Cole and Emily Gillespie, CHM staff

imgLooking for a day trip with friends or a place to take grand kids?

This evening will acquaint you with The Museum of York County,  Historic Brattonsville,  The Main Street Children's Museum and The Historical Center of York County. Join the CHM Volunteer Resource Managers: veteran Windy Cole and her colleague Emmy Gillespie as they present the enrichment chances at their four sites and the volunteer opportunities within them . The experience will give you a reason as well to investigate the volunteer choices. Perhaps you might enjoy leading natural history tours in the new diorama displays or be a living history interpreter on a site that has held generations of the same family whose descendants still live in York County. Historic research and transcription can also be very rewarding.

About our Presenters:

imgEmmy Gillespie is the Volunteer Resource Manager at Historic Brattonsville. She was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, but currently lives in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She went to Winthrop University where she received a Bachelors in Psychology. She joined Historic Brattonsville as a volunteer in 2019 while she attended college. She went back home to Greenville, South Carolina during the pandemic until she was hired as a Living History Interpreter in 2020 and moved up to Volunteer Resource Manager in 2022. She now hopes to gain volunteers that love the sites and the jobs they do as much as she does.
