Monthly Meeting
WILDLIFE & GARDEN KEEPERS
MEETING/PROGRAM; NOVEMBER 15, 2023
ANTLER ROOM, LAKE HOUSE
Larry Leamy will present a talk entitled "The SCCL Native Tree Identification Project" at our November meeting. This project basically involved installing labels for about 50 native trees along the trails here in SCCL. These labels show not only the names of the trees, but their importance to wildlife. Larry will explain (1) how this idea originated as part of an effort by our Wildlife & Garden Keepers (originally Mums and Poppies) Club to achieve Community Wildlife Habitat Re-Certification for SCCL, (2) what preparation was necessary to locate trees and to secure funding as well as permission from various committees and the SCCL Board to pursue this project, and (3) how the actual installation of the labels was accomplished.
